How to report stray dogs and cats:
Animal Care and Control (ACC) takes phone calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Please call (205) 591-6522 to report stray dogs and cats, injured dogs and cats, or for assistance with animal complaints.
PLEASE NOTE: ACC regulates uncontrolled domestic animals, assists with bites and attacks by aggressive animals, investigates reports of possible animal cruelty and neglect, picks up stray animals, picks up confined strays, picks up loose animals without proper rabies identification, rescues injured animals, keeps records of lost/found cats and dogs, gives animal information and referrals, and promotes responsible pet ownership through education.
Reporting potholes:
Do you have a pothole or damaged street you would like to report? Submit a 311 request online at www.birminghamal.gov or by calling (205) 254-2489.
Reporting dilapidated houses:
To begin the process of demolition, you must first call 311 to report the property so the city can send out an inspector who will then conduct a field survey. An inspector will go into the house and to determine if the structure meets the requirements to be “tagged” by the city. If a structure poses a threat to public health — for instance, if it has obvious structural damage, is unsecured (thus posing a fire hazard), the roof is collapsed and the façade has crumbled — it will be slated for demolition. Also, if over 70 percent of the structure has sustained fire damage it will be eligible for demolition.
